Designing lighting concepts for restaurants, cafe, prestigious car dealerships multi residential and luxurious homes. Whether you are looking to light a contemporary home or a heritage listed property with period features, or simply looking to refurbish your current house or build a new one, our design service can transform your project. We begin by providing you with an initial fee proposal for your project. This will help with your budgeting and to ensure we can work within your time-frames. Once this has been agreed to, an initial meeting will be set up with our lighting designer either onsite or in our Design Studio. Our rates start from $150 per hour plus GST. To ensure optimal design results it's most important that the design is done at the very beginning of a project and before electrical first fix. Commercial and high-end domestic projects are our specialty, and with years of experience in lighting and design we will work with you to achieve great results.    

• Step 1 - Prepare and Presentation of Design Concept

In your initial meeting, our designer will review your plans and discuss the project in detail with you. The aim of this first meeting is to determine as much information as possible about the project including furniture layouts and your specific requirements. The more information provided at this stage, the better the lighting will be.

• Step  2 - Detailed Plans and Specification

After the initial meeting, the lighting designer will prepare a full set of lighting plans, a specification and detailed BCA calculations, based around our own collection of fittings. This would include all the light fittings, lamps, transformers, drivers and controls. This typically takes around 15 working days from receipt of all relevant information. We work around our extensive range of fittings, many of which are design in-house and manufactures to our own specifications.The specification and plans include full technical information of what is required on a room-by-room, circuit-by-circuit basis. They detail the exact location of all the fittings, the type of lamps,along with its transformer/driver and control details. With every lighting design scheme, we provide a table showing Building Regulations Part J compliance, which can be submitted to your buildings office. However it is the client's responsibility to confirm the degree of energy efficiency that is required prior to commencing any work.

• Step 3 - On-going Site Visits and Revisions

We normally liaise with your electrical contractor and we will answer any queries they may have regarding the scheme. The designer would be happy to visit site during the first/second fix stage and this would be charged at our normal hourly rate as detailed in any fee proposal. We will ensure that we coordinate with the rest of the design team to incorporate changes. Revisions will be charged at the hourly rate for design time and for marking up of the plans.

• Step 4 - Order management and delivery

Whenever you are ready, our experienced Customer Services team will take your order and answer any technical questions you may have to ensure a smooth installation. All orders are bagged up at our Despatch Centre on a circuit by circuit, room by room basis for ease of installation on site. This saves time making life easier for your electrician.

• Step  5 - Installation

Depending on your location, we can also recommend a qualified electrician who is familiar with our fittings and arrange for a quotation for installation. We strongly advise the use of an approved electrician to ensure an accurate and cleanly-fitted installation.

• We coordinate and book the electrician (at a time suitable to you).
• We will arrange for the goods to be delivered to your home ready for your install.
• We ensure our electrician removes the old fittings, desposing of all rubbish and materials.
• Our electrician will install your new light fitting, dimmers, and new switches, if required.

Commissioning the scheme

Commissioning a lighting scheme is an integral part of any lighting design. Your designer can visit before, during, and at the end of the project to ensure that the lighting is as designed. They will ensure all lamps and lenses are used to the best advantage and help set up a control system if installed. The same hourly rates apply. What to bring to a design studio appointment

• Reflected ceiling plans (preferably at 1:100) and cabinetry drawings.
• Elevations & site plan
• Furniture layout & colour boards.
• It is also a great idea to keep photographs or renderings of a room. Keep a design book of fittings or design ideas. Pinterest can be a great tool for this.

Home Visits If a room or entire house is being remodelled and needs a lighting update, it is preferable for our designers to visit site.
